BAR GAMES Liven up the place with some short games and contests. Do these on the fly (for no good reason) or as part of a theme night. Whatever you do, make sure the room energy is up before getting started; if not, even the best game on earth will flop. Once again, these are quickie activities and clubs usually either do a lot of them, or they do relatively few. Those that do, place a premium on a high room energy level and spontaneity. They also tend to have a clientele that's under 35, but their clubs crackle with excitement because nobody ever knows what's going to happen. They only know something is. Even if your guests are older, format permitting, you can use these. You'll just have to be judicious. Impromptus are little contests that guests participate in, which may or may not be related to any general theme you might have for the night. They're unadvertised and usually related to a bar manager's perverse sense of humor.
Because you want to keep the energy level up, try to do these quickly, without killing the music.
